Fact of the day: On this day in 1937, the day after Marconi died, all radio transmissions ceased for two minutes at a pre-determined time as a mark of respect to the man who had achieved so much in the field of radio.

Point to ponder: There are several billion mobile phone subscribers around the world now. It only took 25 years to reach the first billion after the launch of the first commercial systems. It took over 100 years for land lines to reach this figure.
