Fact of the day: It was on this day in 1989 that the Berlin Wall fell, and this marked the beginning of the collapse of the Soviet Block.

Point to ponder: The first mechanical adding machine was developed by the French mathematician Blaise Pascal (1623 - 1662). It was a mechanical device containing gears and wheels and was capable of addition and subtraction.
